Description:

This position is located within the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Assistant Deputy Administrator for Secure Transportation, Office of Secure Transportation (OST), in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This position directs and coordinates the activities of geographically separated Agent Operation Commands through subordinate leaders and is responsible for planning missions to ensure the safe and secure transportation of nuclear weapons, nuclear weapon components, and SNM.

Requirements:

Specialized Experience: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service, i.e., NQ-03 or GS-14, and demonstrate comprehensive understanding of transportation laws, regulations, and policies in order to effectively manage complex and sensitive mission operations across geographically dispersed commands.

Examples of Specialized Experience:

  • Used Active Security Doctrine and appropriate supporting documents to ensure effective and efficient planning and execution of safe and secure convoy and security missions related to national security assets.
  • Deployed Active Security Doctrine to ensure proper planning, execution, and evaluation of collective and individual training to support the safe and secure transportation of national security assets.
  • Effectively managed personnel readiness and operational budget.
  • Actively sought opportunities to improve efficiency of operations to include working with NNSA program offices and outside organizations to support special mission requirements of a national security program.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of transportation laws, regulations, and policies in order to effectively manage complex and sensitive mission operations across geographically dispersed organizations.
  • Demonstrated core supervisory and managerial-level competencies needed to lead and engage second-level supervisors, maximize organizational and individual performance, and align programmatic priorities to NNSA mission and strategic goals.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

If you are eligible for career transition assistance plans such as ICTAP or CTAP, you must meet the definition of "well qualified" which is defined as having a score of 85 or better.
